General Procedures

1.

Students are admitted to the building at 8:30 a.m. from the courtyard.  During rainy, stormy or extremely cold weather, the main entrance will be used, and you are to report directly to the cafeteria and remain there.  The school hours are 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.except on Mondays.  On Monday mornings teachers will be involved in professional development activities from 8:30 a.m. – 9:20 a.m. Therefore; Mondays will be a restructured day.  Students will be admitted in the building at 9:30 a.m.and dismissed at 4:00 p.m.

2.

You are expected to be in school each day and on time.  If you are late for school, you must bring a note from your parents explaining the reasons for tardiness. Failure to present a note from your parent results in the following consequences:

                                              1st tardy – warning letter

2nd tardy-  phone conference

3rd tardy-  parent conference

Lateness caused by MTA will be investigated.

3.

Whenever you are absent from school, you must present a note to your homeroom teacher the first day of return.  It should give the date(s) of absence(s), the reason for the absence(s), and be signed by your parents.  It is important that a current telephone number and address are provided to the school.

4.

If you wish to be excused early, you must present to the house office assistant by 9:00 a.m. a note signed by your parent or guardian with a telephone number.  Before you pick up the pass at departure time, your parents will be notified and any information concerning an appointment will be verified.  No student will be given an early dismissal, unless the written request can be verified by a telephone call to a parent/guardian.

5.

Only parents/guardians will be authorized to take students out of class and/or school.  Any exceptions must be verified, in advance, by a parent or a guardian.

6.

Lunch bar codes will be issued to students in September, if they received them last year.  However, to continue receiving the lunch bar code after September, your parent must fill out an application and you must return it to school and be approved by the Office of Food Services.  If not, the lunch bar code will be inactive and it will take several weeks to reactivate the code.  Remembering your bar code is your responsibility.
